How it works
How your shop works
A product's status decides where it shows and whether it can be bought. Every cart is rechecked each time it's shown, and an order takes its stock the moment it's placed.
Your website can sell your products. A product's status decides what's on sale, every cart is rechecked against your shop as it is now, and an order takes its stock the moment it's placed.
Only what you choose to sell
| Status | Where it shows | Can it be bought? |
|---|---|---|
| Active | On your shop | Yes |
| Draft | Only on your preview | No |
| Archived | Nowhere | No |
When you Track stock and it runs out, the product is sold out, unless you choose Keep selling when sold out.
Checked, then placed
- A buyer's cart is rechecked every time it's shown, against your shop as it is now. Prices are read again. A product that's gone, no longer for sale or sold out comes out, and a quantity above your stock comes down. The page says what changed, so the buyer sees it before checkout.
- Placing the order prices everything again and takes the stock in the same step, so two buyers can't both get the last one.
- The buyer gets a confirmation, and you get a notice. Neither ever holds up the order.
- The order lands in Orders.
Where you see it
Your website's overview, Get your shop ready, lists what's left before your shop is ready.
Products lists everything you sell, with its status, its stock and its price.
Collections group your products. Drag them into the order your shop shows them, or switch off Show on the website to keep one off it.
Every order lands in Orders. The list refreshes itself every minute, so a new one appears without reloading.
A collection that's off your website still shows on your preview.
Build your online shop takes you through setting it up.
Why it works
Only active products can be bought, so a draft is never sold by mistake. Stock is taken the moment an order is placed, so the last one only sells once. And every order waits in one place, ready for its next step.
