How it works
Unsubscribes, honoured everywhere
Every email has an easy way out: an unsubscribe stops that brand's mail on every list, a spam report stops everything, and both are checked before every email.
When someone asks to stop hearing from you, the platform makes sure they do. Every email carries a way out, and every unsubscribe is checked before each email goes out, not only when a campaign starts.
Two ways out, and both work
- The unsubscribe link in your email's footer asks the person to confirm, then takes them off. Only the confirmation acts.
- Their mail app's own Unsubscribe button takes them off at once. Every email carries the one-click headers that button needs.
- A security scanner that opens every link changes nothing, because it never confirms.
- No one is told they're unsubscribed until it's saved.
Who stops hearing from you
| What happened | How far it reaches |
|---|---|
| They unsubscribed from one of your emails | Nothing more from that brand, on any list |
| They were taken off on your brand's unsubscribe page | That address, or a whole domain, for that brand |
| You took them off under Unsubscribes | All of your lists |
| They reported your email as spam | Unsubscribed everywhere, and blacklisted |
Checked before every email
Before each email goes out, its address is checked, in order, against:
- the platform's blacklist
- the list's own unsubscribes
- everyone who unsubscribed from any campaign of the same brand
- the brand's own unsubscribes, by address or by whole domain
If a brand's unsubscribes can't be read, none of that brand's mail goes in that batch. It waits rather than risk it.
Where to take someone off
Open Unsubscribes, the Unsubscribe Manager. Its address box takes someone who asked you directly, by phone or in a reply, off all your lists.
For a brand's own page, open the brand from Brand presets.
Open its Unsubscribe tab. The Manual Unsubscribe Page is a public link to share with anyone who asks. No login is needed, and it takes an address, or a whole domain, off every future campaign that uses this brand.
The page's link appears as soon as one of your sending domains is live. It's on your own domain, so the people you share it with only ever see your brand.
To take someone off by hand, step by step, follow Handle unsubscribes.
