Fix it

My emails are landing in spam

Start with your deliverability score: it shows which part is holding your mail back. Then look at where the list came from, and whether the people on it expected your email.

Mail lands in spam when mailbox providers stop trusting it. What they judge is who it goes to and how those people react, more than any one word in it. Your deliverability score shows where to look first.

1. Open your score

  1. Open Results.

  2. In the Deliverability section, press Details.

  3. The score shows each of its parts, so you can see which one is low.

2. Fix the part that's low

The low partWhat it usually meansWhat to do
DeliveredMail is being turned awaySend to people who asked to hear from you, and nobody else
BouncesThe list holds dead addressesLook at where the list came from. Every list is cleaned, but an old one keeps losing people
UnsubscribesPeople didn't expect this emailWrite for the people on that list, and remind them why they're hearing from you
Sending domainsA domain's records aren't all verified yetOpen your sending domains and wait until each one is verified

3. Look at the people, not the words

  • A bought or scraped list goes to spam, whatever it says: Can I upload a list I bought?
  • People who signed up long ago may have forgotten you. A short, friendly reminder of who you are helps.
  • Spam reports are the strongest signal of all. A version that draws them stops itself: A campaign that protects itself.
